Privacy at Foleo
Foleo is local-first: the desktop app reads files on your Mac and does not upload, scan, or index your documents. This page describes what data Foleo does and does not collect, updated 2026-08-21.
The desktop app
The Foleo macOS app opens folders on your own disk. Your files stay on your device: the app does not upload your documents, does not require an account, and does not include analytics or telemetry that reports on your files or your usage. The app periodically contacts downloads.foleo.app to check for updates; that request carries standard software-update information (such as the installed version) and no document content.
This website
foleo.app does not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts and does not set marketing cookies. The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes standard request logs (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver and protect the site.
Foleo Publish (private beta)
If you create a Publish account, we store your email address to send sign-in codes and beta invitations; transactional email is delivered via Resend from mail.foleo.app. Content you explicitly publish is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure and served at your foleo.site links until you unpublish it — unpublishing makes reader links return 404. Session cookies are set only on the publish.foleo.app dashboard host, never on this marketing site. Abuse reports submitted through publish.foleo.app/report store the information you provide so we can investigate.
Your choices and contact
You can use the desktop app without any account. If you have a Publish account, you can unpublish your content at any time, and you can email support@foleo.app to ask what data we hold about you or to request deletion of your account and data. If this policy changes, the current version will always live at foleo.app/privacy.
